Escapism: This Is My Little World
I have just read a post on Rape i agree with, i don’t find annoying, overly feministic, (i dont think that’s even a word) over exaggerated, misrepresentational (i don’t think that is either) one that is entirely proportional, true, doesn’t have obvious flaws, doesn’t have many of the other problems that many that i see have but i can’t think of off the top of my head and in short i can’t find a way to criticize this post, even now i’m looking for one. This is very rare. I don’t think i’ve ever seen a post that there hasn’t been at least one major bit that immediately jumps out at me for drawing my criticism in some way (even though i largely agree with the message) - I’ve finally found a rape post i unreservedly want to endorse. I’ve been waiting a long time to do that - So reblogging for sheer and utter true-ness.

If you want proof that gun control works just look at the fact that in Australia people have now twice tried to assassinate the prime minister with sandwiches

Wasn’t this country made up entirely of criminals at one point…?

Yes, totally. It’s not like there were ever natives or people to look after the criminals anything.

younghabitats asked: haha I wrote the post and I also wonder why the hell people reblog it. It was intended to be a list of things I found interesting about people I know personally. How my friends' hobbies reveal themselves by the paint on their hands or the calluses on their palms, or how my mother is so busy minded that she sometimes forgets to eat. It was just a few observations of the things I've begun to notice in people, and it blew WAY out of proportion.

It is very interesting though, I can see why people reblog it. Because I think it is one of those things that is universally applicable to everyone. Each thing may tell you something different to another, or maybe even something contradictory to another person, or pick out two separate aspects, but everyone sees those things and thinks “I relate to that”.

It’s also interesting how, for me, doing the opposite can tell me the same thing. For example someone who (reads widely, but) keeps books in pristine condition shows a love of books, and a respect for author / literature etc etc, however someone who lovingly dogeared their favourite passages to reread over and over, highlighted and made notes showing their personal thoughts, would tell me something similar. Someone who corrects your grammar could be interpreted as someone who thinks they’re better than everyone, someone who likes to show off, someone who is a perfectionist, someone who genuinely wants to improve the standard of English grammar, all of the above or none of the above. However their true intention / personality and the inference someone makes from it could be totally different.

Obviously, some things are basically universal - someone who treats a waiter like shit will probably draw the same reaction from anyone with a half decent set of manners.
What makes me wonder though, what the individual sees from each thing - cos I could suggest things that a person might infer from each thing, but without knowing the person really well I can never tell you which one they’ll pick up on. And that really interests me.

Anyway, I’m sure this isn’t the answer you expected at all, (it’s gone on for ages for a start!), and I’m not really sure if you get told I answered it so I’ll drop you an ask but hey, thanks for getting in touch! :)

This is honestly one of my favorite Spongebob moments. Can we take a minute to realize how clever the writing for this show used to be?

Things that say a lot about people:

  • the way which they treat the waiter/waitress
  • how they feel about the weather
  • whether they dog ear pages or highlight in books
  • fingernails
  • and hands in general
  • their preferred creative outlet
  • how much they dread/enjoy talking on the phone
  • whether or not they drink coffee
  • if they ever forget to eat
  • how honest they are with themselves (and others)
  • if they correct your grammar
  • how they treat their parents

What I always wonder about the people who reblog this is… What does each of them tell you? Does it tell me something different?

Guy stages a fake occult secret society meeting, then orders pizza

San Diego photographer Tim King recently hosted a secret society-themed party for eight of his friends, complete with robes, masks, and a soundtrack provided by the “chanting monks” Pandora station. Then he ordered a pizza delivery, turned on a video camera, and waited.

See this is a prank. It’s fun, it’s funny, it doesn’t hurt anyone, and it gives the guy getting pranked a good story to tell with no skin off his back.

I almost forgot that pranks could be funny.
